En route from Fakarava to Toau

23 June 2011
The name of the next atol is pronounced toe-ow. We are hoping that this one will not live up to its name and finally Rob might get to swim in the Tuamotus. Until now, the infection under his nail has been persistent. I was able to snorkel with our friends at Fakarava, as well as catch up on my socializing and visit a pearl farm, where they were harvesting. It was fascinating to watch the grafter extract one perfect black pearl and insert a new shell sphere for the little guy to keep working on - at a rate under a minute per shell! We happily paid $5 for a head of bok choy, our only greens since Nuku Hiva.
