Day 2

29 August 2011
The day started with a bang when the forestay broke. We managed to roll up the headsail, and get the spinnaker halyard on to the top of the furler so we are not just relying on the headsail halyard to hold it all up there. Its too rough for Rob to go up and see if he can do anything about it. We are in the midst of a convergence zone trough - wind from every which way and big lumpy seas. Just what we don't want to chafe the halyard, with 520 miles to go. We have 2 forestays that we run the cutter gear on, so we can keep sailing and are not in danger of losing the rig, but dropping the roller furler would not be entertaining.
