Port Jefferson to NYC and on to Cape May
11 September 2017 | Long Island sound
Sunny 65 northerly breeze
Had a great 90 mile run to Port Jefferson. Beans and ham for a late dinner. We were able to sail a lot of the day. Today fixed rudder stuffing box issue. Will stop in Port Washington for food and fuel. Then down the east river of NYC, the forecast off the coast of New Jersey is calm seas and wind so the plan will be overnight trip to cape may and then up Delaware Bay to the sheltered waters of the chesapeake Bay. Our thoughts are of the folks who have suffered from the ravages of the hurricane and thankful we were spared.
