Back in Australia, back on the boat, and back with a new pledge to write a weekly blog post! After a seven-month sojourn at home in Deltaville, Virginia, we flew back to Brisbane, and Blue Summit earlier this week. The boat was hauled out of the water before we left in March and has been high and dry ever since, happily sitting in Boatworks work yard. She’ll remain out of the water until early January while we juggle boat projects (the list seems to grow everyday...), visiting friends, and land travel.
We’ve managed to tick off a few items on the “to do” list since Tuesday but primarily we’ve cleaned a fairly dirty boat, inside and out, unpacked a WHOLE lot of bags full of spare parts and bits and bobs we’ll need for the next year, and tried to get our bodies on Australian time.
We are thrilled to be back in the land of kookaburras, cockatoos and kangaroos- all of which we see daily. It’s nice to step away from the frenzy of the American news cycle and gain a different perspective- and who doesn’t like being hailed with “g’day mate”? By far, the highlight of the week though has been catching up with several Aussie friends who we’ve dearly missed. Life is good. No lowlights, other than jet lag... Cheers, Kate
