Boatyard Fun

Log time! (As promised)
It’s been a busy week since the last post, jet lag is pretty much gone (thank god), more boat projects have been completed, a few new ones have been found, and some are moving at a glacial pace... I’ve been slowly working on waxing and polishing as manual labor is my specialty, Kate is a manual laborer as well and Steve has knocked a few projects off his list. Unfortunately the intense Southern Hemisphere sun makes working outdoors difficult during the middle of the day, so timing is important.
We escaped the boatyard for a few days to go Byron Bay! About an hour and a half south, it’s an artsy, kind of hippy-ish, boutique-y town with amazing food, some of the most gorgeous beaches I’ve ever seen, and a gorgeous hike up to a lighthouse. We went with our Aussie friends, Ann and Cran, who also needed a break from moving into and unpacking their new apartment. We ate too much, finished a few bottles of wine, and got to catch up and start planning our trip to Perth and Margaret River which is in about a month, which they are joining us for! It was a perfect break for all of us, and it was so wonderful to get back to exploring a new part of Australia.
I am missing the States and the comfort of driving, familiar grocery stores, and of course being near friends. I think we are all slowly readjusting, but it’s worth it.
Love,
Hannah
