Hello Sunshine Coast!

Looking for a geographically diverse, sunny, and warm area, near a major metropolitan area, but not in the hustle and bustle of a city, to vacation? Then the Sunshine Coast of Queensland is just the place you’ve been looking for! Last week was blissfully short of time in the boatyard (and boat projects) as we ventured about an hour and a half north of Brisbane to visit dear friends in the charming town of Buderim and stay in their new home.
We hiked in Kondadilla National Park, played tourists in Maleny, poking in and out of shops, went to a fabulous brewery, played in the surf in Mooloolaba, saw the Giant Pineapple and the Giant Macadamia Nut (what a bonus!), and enjoyed exploring the town of Buderim. The highlight of the week was a day at the Australia Zoo. The zoo is Steve Irwin’s (the late “Crocodile Hunter”) vision. Irwin’s message of “conservation through exciting education” is truly embodied in every aspect of the zoo. Who can walk among lemurs and not smile? Or see a snoozing koala, which they do for twenty hours a day, and not melt? We truly live on an amazing planet.
