8-20 Presque Isle: We got out of bed at 8:15am and took a look at the weather. There were big old ugly clouds interspersed with patches of blue. The winds were to build again today to the 20kn. mark. We only had a 15 mile ride today and if we left early we could beat the big winds. So, instead of having breakfast, we unhooked from the dock and were on our way by 8:45am. We made 6kn. with just the head sail and motor assist. We had some 20kn. gusts, but most of the wind was in the 10-15kn. range. We pulled into Presque Isle at noon. We had a great time here. There were bicycles available and off we went. There is no town at Presque Isle as it is a state park. There are two light houses here and we toured both of them. While up on the catwalk of the big light house (5th largest in the Great Lakes), we experienced the 20+ winds and spitting rain. I was glad we were not on the water. We were back at the boat and had dinner at 7. Then there was ice cream, then showers, then bed.
