A Fish Finally
21 February 2014
Actually, two fish, both Spanish Mackerels. Fun to catch while moving south. We had no luck with the wind today, the forecast was for southeast winds of 10 knots, we expecting to make a beat down the coast to Marco Island but instead wound up with wind right on the bow. We made our way out of Charlotte harbor around 1000 and headed out to sea for a bit in order to get some sailing in. We were able to sail for about an hour of our 5 hour run down the coast. We anchored inside by marker #15 at Marco Island at 1700. We'll check the weather again tomorrow morning before making our decision for the crossing to Key West. We won't go if the winds are like today, we want to sail this long leg! We blew the line on our propane so tonight we had to improvise for dinner. Sharon took some chicken out and marinated it, secret recipe, if she wants to share it, it will have to come from her, but wow! That's about all I can say, it was delicious, I grilled it and heated up some leftover mashed potatoes on the grill and also some green beans. It's amazing what you can do when you just have a grill. The 'misquitos' came out at sunset so we are buttoned up for the night. More tomorrow!
