A Little Closer

Yesterday, Sharon and I went on our initial provisioning trip. We went to the commissary and stocked up on canned goods, frozen vegetables and meats. Then off to the boat where we marked the cans with a date and what's in them. We don't really worry about the cans rusting because we date them and use the oldest first. As for the labeling, I've read many tales of cruisers reaching in for a can of ??? because all the labels tend to get loose and fall off. Nothing like having green beans with your cereal !
Today, we have packed our clothes. It is really difficult trying to decide what all we'll want/need over the next few months. At least we'll be home for Christmas so we can revise our clothing choices if need be. People don't realize that cold fronts actually make it all the way down into Belize. When I helped my good friend, Art Schuck, move his sailboat, s/v OK Fine from Isla Mujeres, Mx to Fronteras, Guatemala, we had two days of very chilly northwest winds. I have also had overnights in Cancun with similar weather, so we are trying to pack accordingly, mostly shorts and t-shirts, but also some sweats!
The work on the dodger is almost complete, just one more addition and it's done. Tomorrow we'll be moving more 'stuff' to the boat. The best guess right now is for a Thursday departure.
