It is hard to believe we are traveling on the same ocean! Last night it was windy, rough, and nasty. As the day progressed, the wind and seas calmed down creating a more comfortable sail. The sliver of a moon has already set but the stars are bright and twinkling above us. The calm water has a few ripples created by a northerly breeze. The mainsail is up and gently pushing us along with help from the starboard engine. On to either side, we see bright lights from late night fishing vessels. Even though we still need to wear pants and fleeces, we can feel the weather getting warmer as we head further south. Our fingers are not freezing when the sails need attention and we don't need heat in the cabin to stay warm. These are good things! This afternoon, we were joined by a pod of dolphins playing in our bow wake. As they would jump next to the boat, it was almost as if they were smilng and welcoming us to their part of the ocean. We enjoyed a hot meal this evening which was nice after the inconsistent eating we did all through Sunday because of the snotty weather. Stomachs are settled and we are falling into more of a routine of eating and sleeping. Earlier today, we had a port engine sail drive malfunction which requires some maintenance and not sure it is something we can fix ourselves. It is not anything that is affecting our performance but will definitely need some attention. Stayed tuned and we will keep you posted.
