Hello from Tangalooma

27 July 2013

We arrived in Tangalooma late in the afternoon, Jen & glenn from Sea trekk iii had arrived already from Manly (Brisbane)
We dropped anchor near the sand hills for a rest and to continue to Mooloolaba in the morning. Unfortunately we didnt get a chance to look around as we were eager to reach Mooloolaba. Perhaps we have time on the way back.

The majority of Moreton island is a national park. flinders Reef, close to the north of Cape Moreton is fully protected against fishing activity. it supports the richest collection of fish and marine inverterbrates in southern queensland and the highest number of coral species of any sub-tropical or temperate reef along Australias's east coast

History
Moreton Bay was discovered in 1770 by captain James cook. He named it after James douglas, the 14th Earl of Morton, the 'e' being added by mistake in Hawkesworth's edition of Cook's voyages 23 years later. The bay became a penal settlement between 1824 and 1842 after which centrin areas remained jails
