Hello from Hervey Bay

Hervey Bay
We needed to go to Hervey Bay as Steve had to change the starter motor which had ceased after our incident through the Wide Bay Bar , overall it all worked well, only took 24 hours to get it and not long at all for Steve to install it.
We spent 3 days at the Sandy Straits Marina at Urangan Harbour, very nice place to walk around the marina shops and cafes but the marina itself is very shallow and we had to wait till the high tide to depart. We also bought a day ticket on the local bus and travelled all over Hervey Bay, getting on and off as we wished.
An added bonus was finding that on the boat next to us lived a gorgeous Tri King Charles, her name was Gypsey, ofcouse she loved all the attention.
After reprovisioning, getting the laundry done it was time to move on to Rooney Point.
A bit of History
The indigenous Butchulla people are the traditional residents of Hervey Bay. The first recorded European sighting of Hervey Bay was made by James Cook while carrying out his running survey of the east coast of Australia, on the 22 May 1770. "By noon Cook's ship was in a position a little over half-way across the opening of Hervey Bay heading for Bundaberg. Cook named the bay "Hervey's Bay" after Augustus John Hervey (1724-1779)
