Nothing happens quickly in the Caribbean and the sooner you become accustomed to that fact, the happier a camper you will be. It is Tuesday and we have been here for 3 weeks! The transmission is being installed as we speak, so hopefully we will be out of here this afternoon. Beguia is a wonderful island with very nice, friendly people. We have had a good time with the Regatta the first week, very busy and fun, then this fiasco, but it has afforded us the opportunity to get to know the island and lots of nice people. We had a fun day hiking with a wonderful French lady, Martine, who took us over hill and dale for 6 hours on paths that only the goats and chickens knew about. We swam on deserted beaches, climbed up hills and walked down steep inclines until our legs shook. The classic was 'finding' a path through the woods with only a stream to guide us, but somehow we emerged at the top to a welcome cement road. We know the East side of Bequia well! Our friends from Tr inity(NH) and Discovery (Canadians from Toronto) have returned from the Cays, Jane and Paul from Shein (Scots) have caught up with us and we met a new OCC member last night from the States,on Cygnus, Mel and Jane Boudrot. She grew up in Pine Point! Hi Dave from Ardfern (sp?). We are laughing that you told Shein where we were. Sorry to miss you this summer, but maybe we'll catch you in these parts next Fall. That's the news from Bequia. Hopefully the next post will be from the Tobago Cays!
