Time off the Boat
10 October 2014
Sunny, 28 degrees, abating winds
Just down the road from the Yeppoon Marina is Emu Park where the Singing Ship Memorial to James Cook RN is situated high above the ocean.
Yesterday it was nice to spend a little time off the boat, getting fuel, doing the washing and getting the courtesy car to go into Yeppoon to do some shopping for provisions. The wind was blowing quite strongly all day, probably over 25 knots and we were very pleased to be snug in the marina. During the night the boat strained at the mooring lines and water was noisily slapping he hull of the boat.
Today we hired a car and drove down to Emu Park before driving into Rockhampton. Emu Park is about 10 kilometres south of Yeppoon and we stayed there many years ago on one of our trips north one Christmas. In Rockhampton we had a quick look down the main street before driving to the botanic gardens and enjoying a walk through the gardens. Back to the main street we had some lunch before visiting the art gallery. We then drove up to a lookout before heading back to Yeppoon to do some last minute shopping.
Tomorrow Louise is keen to go to Great Keppel Island so it will be interesting to see if we have another rolly night.
