All age groups, including adults marched and laid wreaths at the war memorial.

For hours, parades of marching children, grouped by age and then parading adults passed the “viewing stand” made of planks spanned across logs. The crews of the three yachts became honored guests with the best seats. The choreographed bare foot marching to the beat of drums had obviously been practiced annually from childhood. There was no way such precision could be learned in mass in only a few weeks. At one point in the long display, there was a funny reenactment by a group of boys, arms spread wide, winging their way onto the field, dropping smoky bombs of white flour while others attacking with popguns killed and displaced the enemy.
