May 18. It was Christmas today!

18 May 2007 | My Office
Rebecca Taft
It really WAS Christmas!! ! I ordered a new RayMarine C80 Chartplotter, a new RayMarine 2KW Radar ( so I can overlay it on to the charts), and a new RayMarine Autopilot! I only ordered them yesterday and they are already here! My boat lettering came in too! More on all of this later!

May 19. Our friend John Monter has arrived and is done commissioning his new 46' Shannon. My friend Terry and I went out with him and his friend who is in from Texas. There wasn't more than 5 knots of wind, and often there was NO wind- but we had a nice drift on the Sakonnet River for a few hours! Most exciting was that I got to see and operate a RayMarine C80 Chartplotter- just like the one I got!!! Patrick and I are heading out with him for dinner. Tommorow, we are all going to Block Island for 2 days on the boat - pray for WIND!!! I am excited! It's a beautiful, spare no expense boat.with lots of electronics, and pleasantly.a lot of the same electronics that I just bought for our boat! SO I am going to get to play more with those electronics tomorrow, and enjoy a few days at sea and anchor. He has the "Ideal Windlass" on his boat, a brand made locally here in Rhode Island.with a very good reputation- one of the windlasses that we considered for our boat, but didn't end up quite affording and wanting for various reasons..

We decided to take the slow route, down the sidewalk..ie the Intracoastal Waterway, the ICW. We went slowly, and smelled the flowers along the way. We are with old friends of Patricks, new friends of mine...Art and Grace Ormaniec, in Manteo, North Carolina.

AT THE END, Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride! And I still have my Arizona driver license!! '
