Blue sky, sunshine, and in sight of our target. Yay! Should get to Noumea by about 8am Friday, all going well. We will get there before our crew. That's a relief. Was not looking so certain 3 or 4 days ago. Main island of New Cal looks hilly and spectacular. Though we are a long way out, because of the extensive reef system. Our great sailing yesterday came to an abrupt halt mid-afternoon, in the lee of the island. Wind lulled then turned around. Since then, been very changeable. Sails up, reefed down, jib furled, wind dies, sails down, LRD back on again. Done that don't know how many times last night & this morning. Never mind, almost there. Jack & I looking forward to long showers and long sleeps. But already there's a list of 100 things that need doing before next leg. The jobs never stop on a boat. Still - all good. Now, must keep practising that French that Mr Charles Usher taught me so well in 1973. "Bonjour Madamoiselle! Avez vous un baguette, s'il vous plait? Ou est Zazou? Donnez moi les grandes bissous, ma cherie!"
