Christmas in BVI

Long time no blog... I know, I know. I will blame it on the lack of internet connections plus the fact that our blogs would all sound the same - beach, beach, beach, town, beach. Sorry about this :) , I have been watching the weather in Vancouver.

After arriving in the USVI we hung around St. John for a week before we met Scott in St. Thomas and have been sailing around the BVI for the last week. Actually, we have been doing short jaunts upwind for the last few days so not much sailing. Our route has been St. Thomas, St. John, Tortolla. Norman Island, Cooper Island, Virgin Gorda. We are now at the north end of Virgin Gordain North Sound, anchored near The Bitter End Yacht Club and plan to sail to Anegada today for Christmas. We had Christmas on Anegada a number of years ago and it is quite lovely. Anegada is famous for its lobster. When you arrive you go into the beach bar at the Anegada Reef Hotel and order your lobster and/or chicken for dinner and then they go out and catch the lobsters (and maybe the chickens?) needed for the night's dinner. The lobster and chicken are cooked on half barrels and you sit at tables with your feet in the sand and have dinner. We are ready for Christmas as we strung Christmas lights around the cockpit last night. Thanks to Al for the lights which he gave to us after our last trip here with him and Becca.

We have been trying to perfect the Painkiller (Rum, coconut, orange, pineapple) while Scott is here and are getting closer but i think we need to research and pracitise this more. They have another drink which is popular called the Bushwacker which we can explore next. It is more like an adult milkshake.

Our plans are to make our way back to St. Thomas by the 29th so Scott can fly home. We will stay at Crown Bay Marina again. Our friends Terry and Lena in Norfolk found us on thel live web cam at the marina last time we were there. Just go to their website and you will see it called Pirate Webcam. They could see us getting on and off the boat. We stood on the dock and waved at them. So watch for us on the 29th and 30th. It will be like reality TV. LOL. We will have to watch ourselves and behave.

After Anegada we will travel to Jost Van Dyke and the north side of Tortola. After St. Thomas we will sail direct back to Puerto Rico. We have been visiting and researching where to leave the boat until we return in May and have concluded that Porto del Rey is the best bet. The marina and boatyard are both better than what we have seen in the BVI and we can fly in and our oft here pretty easily.

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year.
