Happy Halloween. We weighed anchor and were on our way at 7:40 am. I was concerned that by 10:00 we still had no cell phone network but thought that our children were smart enough not to panic and had probably figured out the situation, which they had. The Alligator - Pungo Canal was just one very long straight body of water and when we entered it truly looked like the snowbird highway with a long line of sailboats in front of us. Following us were the real birds. Rich thinks that in the shallow waters fish get stirred up by the passing boats and the birds come to catch them.
We arrived at Oriental, NC shortly before 5:00 pm. We are in a great marina - 110 slips and all but a few are filled with sailboats. We walked the mile plus into town and after we had a filling meal a restaurant employee drove us back to the boat. We visited with another Grand Banks couple we met at the marina in Great Bridge who just happened to be here and then called it a night, well not quite because we are writing this blog.
