Tourists for a Day
13 November 2009 | Jekyll Island, GA

We decided to celebrate Hildy's birthday by spending another day here. It was well worth it. The weather has returned to perfect and we spent several hours exploring the island on courtesy (big seat) bicycles provided by the marina. A paved bike path encircles most of the island, which was once owned jointly by the Jekyll Island Club members who included JPMorgan, a Rockefeller and some of their friends. Their clubhouse, which is now a hotel, is shown in the picture. We ended the day with dinner at a nearby seafood restaurant and tomorrow we will head south bright and early to catch nearby creeks at high tide.
