Catching Up

Wednesday I met Butchie Phillips for breakfast and we were still talking by lunch time (surprise?). Rich and I spent the afternoon walking around downtown. We went through the Waterfront Gallery and walked along the park to Meeting Street. As we walked up Meeting we stopped at the Gibbs Art Museum and some galleries and then had a coffee and watched the tourists go by. An early supper at Shem Creek gave us time to catch the movie "Date Night", some good laughs. That brings us to Thursday when the mechanic came for our 52 quart oil change. I left Rich in his glory (talking diesels) and went with Yolanda to Sullivan's Island for a walk on the beach and watching the Blue Angels practicing for their week-end show celebrating Navy Week in Charleston. We met Dianne and Tommy Huddleston (friends from Rice Planter Carpets days) for lunch, yummy fish tacos. A perfect end to the day was having drinks on the flying bridge with Jill and Terry Ippel, friends from way back when we were on the George Marshall. We wish them well on their adventure driving their RV from Summerville, SC to Alaska. Isn't retirement grand? Today when the work on the boat was completed Rich and the mechanic took the boat on sea trials and everything checked out. We are in a perfect situation with the boat tucked in at Toler Cove for Rich to fly to Maine for a quick visit with his Mom. I'll do my best not to miss him too much while I'm walking the beaches where we used to go Hobie Cat sailing.
