Through the Black Hole

We were able to travel about 100 nautical miles yesterday due to our early start leaving the Marine Base anchorage at dawn. We anchored last night in a place called Slade Creek off the Pungo River, about 20 miles before the canal from the Pungo to the Alligator River and at the start of what we found to be a "black hole" for cell phones and internet on the trip South. Hence, no blog report last night. Today we continued on the ICW and are docked tonight in Coinjock, NC, about 20 miles from the Virginia border. The picture is of our wake in the Pungo-Alligator Canal. The really brown color is due to tannin in the water caused by roots and decaying leaves of cypress and juniper trees that line the waterway. It also creates a brown "mustache" on Brilliant which will have to be cleaned at the end of the trip.
