Afloat in Atlantic City

We left our anchorage shortly after dawn and traveled through the normally busy Chesapeake and Delaware Canal to the Delaware Bay without seeing a single ship, towed barge, snowbird or anyone. We also had a three knot current flowing with us. Under clear skies and a following breeze we decided to continue out into the Atlantic after going through the Cape May Canal. We anchored tonight in a very private, very unmarked anchorage in Atlantic City. The bad news is that the various cruising guides' descriptions of the route into the anchorage were a bit off from reality and we therefore got to exercise our Towboat US privileges after finding a particularly shallow spot in the approach. All's well that ends well and after cleaning the mud out of our seawater strainers we are able to view the lights of Atlantic City from a comfortable distance. The picture is one of the more unique lighthouses on the Delaware Bay.
