After careful study of the Maine Cruising Guide we decided to head for Little Cranberry Island today and were moored on one of the island's free moorings shortly after noon. Little Cranberry is about two miles South of Mt. Desert Island and Acadia National Park. It has about 80 year round residents and a few hundred more in the summer - a combination of artists and lobstermen. The school has 14 pupils. The island is only about 400 acres in total so we walked most of it; saw some very accomplished works of art in the galleries and the small but well done museum of local history. Our mooring has views of both Little Cranberry and the mountains of Acadia Park - and the weather was balmy and calm.
