Today was beautiful and clear - except for the dense fog bank between the mainland and our destination in Frenchboro on Long Island, a few miles off the coast. We are moored in Lunt Harbor on a Lunt & Lunt mooring off their lobster dock and Lunt's deli. In the early 1800's two Lunt brothers came to the island and started families which for six generations have contributed greatly to the local population. About half of the island (900 acres) is now owned by the Maine Coast Heritage Trust due to a $3 million fundraising effort a few years ago. There are numerous beautiful trails through mossy pine forests surrounded by rocky seascapes. After a few hours of hiking and enjoying the scenery we found time to enjoy eating freshly caught lobsters on the dock.
