Underway for the North Country

We got underway today for a long planned trip from Rhode Island to Lake Champlain. Doug and Ethan came along for the first leg from Barrington to Mystic, CT. The picture was taken by Beth who along with Jared acted as line handlers for our departure. As can be seen it was cloudy and actually raining a bit as we left and mostly got worse along the way with the worst downpour and wind as we entered the Mystic River. Brilliant acted brilliantly with only a few unusual sounds to investigate after having had all shaft bearings, seals, and engine mounts replaced during her winter stay in Barrington. After a change into dry clothes we enjoyed a warm dinner in Mystic where we will settle down for the night, send Doug and Ethan back to Providence tomorrow via Amtrak and, dependent upon weather conditions, head West on the Long Island Sound toward New York.
