Storm Evasion

We continued our day in Salem yesterday after Beth and Jared left for home with a visit to the Peabody/Essex Museum, an outstanding building architecturally, containing an equally impressive collection of ship models and marine art as part of its permanent collection and a large short term show of Ansel Adams photography. We then finished off the day with a seafood meal in a great waterfront restaurant and an off the wall entertaining Norwegian film called “The Headhunter” in a local 18 seat theater. This morning we left at six am to beat the predicted weather with the intention of stopping at Newburyport, which we have not been to before. At about nine am our Sirius weather radio display (shown) indicated that an ominous line of thunderstorms would get to us before we got there so we chose to stop in Rockport, MA instead. We managed to get tied up at a seawall about 30 minutes before the storm hit and then spent a few hours visiting galleries and the library until the weather abated. We’re enjoying a peaceful night on board after moving to a float less affected by the nine foot tide change than our seawall tieup and will decide on tomorrow’s destination based on the morning’s weather.
