The Other Brooklin

We left our island anchorage on a cloudy morning and cruised through Casco Passage and into Eggomoggin Reach – all relatively narrow passages between a multitude of islands. We anchored two hours later outside of Center Harbor in Brooklin, ME, home of the Wooden Boat school that we had visited two summers ago. As can be seen in the picture the harbor was full of many well designed sailboats, both wood and fiberglass. This time we spent a few hours walking a mile or so between the harbor and the library, general store, an art gallery, a gourmet wine and cheese store and a very nice café where we benefited by the unfortunate (for lobstermen) low prices of lobster and had some delicious, but relatively inexpensive lobster rolls. In anticipation of predicted heavy rain we spent a quiet late afternoon and evening reading in the comfort of Brilliant.
