We awoke this morning surrounded by dense fog and waited until we could see the nearby Newport Bridge before we got underway just before noon. We anchored about 5 pm in Mattapoisett Harbor, about 11 miles from the entrance to the Cape Cod Canal and were entertained by a local evening sailboat race. Tomorrow our plan is to end up in Plymouth Harbor at a Brewer marina where we have complimentary docking privileges – or not - based on the weather as a cold front is predicted to pass through the area tomorrow with thunderstorms and flash flooding.
