Another Favorite Island

We spent a quiet few days in Camden visiting and doing boat projects and, after another evening with our southern friends on their way back from Nova Scotia we left for a few days of cruising on Friday morning. Our first stop was Isle au Haut, which we had visited and loved last summer. We got there shortly after noon on Friday and are moored just off the town dock. The moorings are paid for on the honor system by putting money in a soda bottle attached to the mooring line. After walking to both island stores and an amazing chocolatier (Black Dinah, named after a nearby mountain) we have spent our time hiking around island roads and mountain trails, including one 500 ft. peak. The picture is of the lighthouse at the entrance to Isle au Haut Thoroughfare where we are moored. It was recently turned into a B&B (keepershouse.com) with four rooms and a guest cottage, accessible either by a two mile walk from the town dock or for guests, having the ferry from Stonington drop you off at their dock. It is positioned close to the island trails that are part of Acadia National Park.
