A Day of Art

The Peabody Essex Art Museum is the oldest art museum in America dating back to 1799. I can't say enough about the variety of galleries to entice the very young to the older visitors, the quality of the permanent and special exhibits and the architecture of the building. Just visit the museum website to see for yourselves. After lunch we cruised the ten miles to Gloucester, MA where we picked up a mooring, put the dinghy in the water and set off for the North Shore Art Association. If the impending rain doesn't keep us away we will attend tomorrow night's opening celebration even though we were invited to view it today as the first visitors to the new show. Later we walked the mile or so to Rocky Neck, one of the oldest continuous art colonies in America. The galleries are just starting to open for the season so we will go back tomorrow to check them out. Phew - what a brilliant day!
