After a leisurely breakfast we spent three hours cruising through the islands of Casco Bay and anchored shortly after noon off Great Chebeague Island, the largest of these at about three and a half miles long and a mile or so wide. In 2006 Chebeague seceded from the mainland town of Cumberland to become its own town of about 350 year round residents and about 10 times that in summer. We had a pleasant mile walk to the local grocery store and then relaxed on the porch of the elegant Chebeague Island Inn.
