We moored in Dutch Harbor on the West side of Jamestown Island at noon yesterday in beautiful weather and spent a great afternoon and evening with all of our children and grandchildren. After a walk around Jamestown and a visit by Rich and Doug to the West Marine Superstore in Newport, we all enjoyed a leisurely meal at Simpatico, an excellent restaurant with a large (heated) outdoor seating area. We decided to remain here for another day, partially to avoid the 10 - 20 kt SW winds which blew for most of the day but also to have a pleasant Sunday with a walk to buy the NY Times and for Rich and Doug to troubleshoot and fix our ailing foghorn and replace our master cabin shower drain system which conveniently failed the night before we arrived here and more conveniently was in stock at West Marine. This evening we were treated to dinner by our friends Sarah, who Hildy happened to cross paths with in the grocery store this morning, and Frank, at their home here in Jamestown. Their house is the oldest on the island and has been restored by Frank, who is a builder.
