An Island Revisited

A pleasant day cruising the 30 miles to Fishers Island, NY, which is only two miles off the Connecticut coast. We last were here in the late ‘60’s on a ferry from New London with Beth and Doug seated on the back of our three speed bicycles as we toured the island. It appears that not much has changed, at least on the Western end of the island as we walked past many large weathered New England houses, most of which appeared to be closed for the season. The Eastern end of the island is purported to be mostly a gated community but we did not venture there. We anchored overnight along with two cruising sailboats in the large Western Harbor and will head West into Long Island Sound in the morning.
