Extended Summer

Another unusually summery day with temperatures in the upper 70's and relatively calm seas. We made our way West on Long Island Sound to Port Jefferson where we moored after replenishing our fuel and water tanks. This afternoon we overtook one of the sailboats, Cormorant, which was anchored with us last night in Fisher's Island and met the owners, Keith and Sarah from Bristol , RI for drinks ashore after we both arrived here. They are also retirees (not surprising) and on their way somewhere South "of the freezing zone" for the winter. Our mooring is a few hundred yards from the Bridgeport Ferry slip. The ferries are frequent, noisy and large but we've been told they stop at midnight.
