Waiting for Weather
22 October 2016 | Cape May
Rich
We arrived in Cape May yesterday afternoon and decided to tie up at Utsch's marina to wait out gale force Northwest winds predicted, accurately as it turned out, to arrive last night before transiting North on the Delaware Bay. We chose not to proceed up the Bay yesterday as we would not have reached a secure storm safe anchorage before dark As a benefit we had time to enjoy the last of the recent warm summery days and walk the mile into town to admire the many well kept Victorian houses as well as the extensive beach. Cape May is the oldest seaside resort town in the US, dating back to 1812. Today the temperature has dropped onto the 50's and the wind is blowing at about 25 - 35 mph while we relax, take advantage of the marina's laundry and wait for more hospitable cruising weather.
