We have decided to keep Brilliant at the Southport Marina until Saturday, the 8th to allow continuing unstable weather to work its way out of the Southeast. Our first night here was filled with high winds and thunderstorms, yesterday was beautiful and today was hot and humid followed by more heavy thunderstorms tonight with two days of high winds predicted for Thursday and Friday. Yesterday our good friend Iris, who has lived here for a number of years, toured the four of us around Southport to see her new and old homes and to a great pub on the water for lunch. Today Lindsay picked up a rental car that they will drive back to Charleston in a day or two and we drove to Wilmington where we toured the waterfront and then had lunch at the home of Lindsay and Yolanda's friends, Billy and Joy. Their house is located just south of Wilmington on a beautiful creekside spot off the Cape Fear River.
