A New Destination

Today was a relaxing Sunday. We were the last boat to leave the anchorage at about 9:15, affording us the opportunity to pass several sailboats that had left earlier, and chat with them as we waited for a bridge opening together. One was from Belfast, ME. The weather was warm and calm. We stopped in the early afternoon for the night at Morehead City both because it was convenient and we hadn't been there before. It is not a quaint touristy town like the neighboring Beaufort, but is full of charter fisherman and a working waterfront. Although the main street could be a set for The Last Picture Show, after a short walk for some exercise we found a nice oyster bar and - good news - a newsstand that sold the Sunday NY Times - bad news - they were sold out for the day. The picture is one of many ospreys nesting on the ICW marker buoys.
