Home Sweet Home
11 May 2013 | New Park, PA
Last night we anchored up the Great Wicomico River in Mill Creek. We got up early once again and hightailed it up the bay. We arrived at Chalkpoint Marina at 4:30 p.m. today and avoided a few thundershowers. We are happy to back home.
This is a photo of our home in Pa. Time to get back to mow grass!

11 May 2013 | Coming up past Naval yard
This is a photo of a huge Naval ship being worked on. The EPA says that boats need to be contained (with a tent) so the environment isn't tainted. This tent was so huge.

This picture is a dual bridge. One bridge for the railroad....which was moving as we approached. The other is for autos. We got to wait for both to open.

11 May 2013 | Great Bridge Lock
We had another new experience yesterday morning when we started the day. A barge was being towed (pushed) up the ICW and was coming on strong to make the 8 a.m. bridge, to make the Great Bridge Lock, and the next bridge at 9 a.m. which is exactly what we had planned to do. So here we were awaiting the 1st bridge and rules of the road say that you must let the barge go first. The barge had to be put in the Lock first and then we pleasure boats got to load up.
The photo was us along side of the barge in the Great Bridge Lock.
Albemarle & Chesapeake Canal
09 May 2013 | Virginia
So there are turtles here too! As we were coming up the canal, we encountered several sightings.
We started the day at 6:02 this morning and did over 70 miles up to the Atlantic Yacht Basin Marina. We arrived at 4 p.m. and were so happy to get real showers.
Today we navigated the Albemarle Sound and then did the Currituck Sound on up into the Albemarle & Chesapeake Canal. Tomorrow a.m. we will have a bridge 1st thing, the Great Bridge Lock, then another bridge before we enter the Chesapeake Bay.
