Glass Window

Glass Window from the west, photo taken from Fugue - note water splashing in from Atlantic over the rocky base.
Today we traveled 23 nm north to Glass Window, which is a natural opening from the Atlantic to the Banks. We first took Fugue as close as we could get and then anchored so we could beach the dinghy and hike up the road for a better look. There is a man-made bridge across this opening, but it used to be a natural bridge until it was taken out by a storm. The information we read says that during a big storm a 100 ft. wall of water can hit Glass Window, with enough force to toss huge rocks onto the ridge. It exceeded our expectations and we're very glad we made this side trip on our way to north
Eleuthera. We'll continue our trip tomorrow.
