Royal Island anchorage
Yesterday we made the trip through Current Cut to the northern part of Eleuthera. We timed our passage through the cut for high slack tide (since the current can be really strong at times) and had no problems, despite the choppy, rolly waves both south and north of it. It was calm inside the cut and there were no other boats going through it at that time. From there it was only a few more miles to our anchorage at Royal Island, our planned staging area for the trip north. We had thought we might leave this morning, but when the alarm went off we were just too tired. So today we are resting for the long day tomorrow. We have added extra diesel from the jerry cans, checked the engine, and prepped the cabin for an offshore passage. We'll go to bed early and leave before dawn tomorrow for the long trip to the Abacos.
