More island hopping
20 March 2014 | Great Guana Cay
Beverly/sunny and warm
On the 16th we left Man O War and went back to Marsh Harbour since the wind direction would have made our anchorage uncomfortable. On Monday we participated in "the world's shortest St. Patrick's Day parade." It was only 2 blocks, but there were a lot of people wearing their green, with assorted types of noise makers. There were also quite a few dogs wearing green, including one with green spots on its fur. There was a fiddler who entertained us while we waited and a couple of people carrying Irish flags led the parade. The organizers gave out beads (to people and dogs), along with tickets for free drinks at Snappas (adults only). As we paraded past the Strawberry Monkey bocce ball area, they gave out free beers to each adult participant. The drinks at Snappas turned out to be green leprechaun punch, which was quite good. (For those who know our drinking preferences, Ralph got both beers and I got both drinks.) Everyone had a great time!
On Tuesday another cold front blew through with cloudy skies and cooler temperatures, along with very strong winds at times. We spotted 2 dinghies that escaped from their boats (but were rescued) and one that got flipped over by the strong winds and waves. Fortunately, we had no issues.
Yesterday we left Marsh Harbour again for Great Guana Cay. We're just hanging out, waiting for the Barefoot Man concert tomorrow and enjoying the warm sunny weather.
