Marco to Sanibel

Beverly/sunny and warm

The view from our anchorage near the tip of Sanibel Island - most of the rest is a wildlife sanctuary.
Remember we said we wanted to be warm? This last week has been great and the warm weather is expected to continue for at least another few days. We love it! Today we motorsailed from Marco to Sanibel Island, in the Fort Myers area. The wind started light but became a little stronger than forecast and changed direction on us in the afternoon. It still let us keep the sail out the whole way, which helped our speed. We were surprised to still encounter a few crab pot lines, but it wasn't bad. We also had to put up with some wakes from power boats along the way, but expected that since it's the weekend. We chose to anchor at Sanibel because it's easy to get there and the holding (according to Waterway Guide) was reported to be good. We can confirm that, although there is a lot of current and you have to anchor pretty close to shore to get in shallower water and out of the channel.
