Cape Haze to Sarasota
06 May 2014 | Sarasota, Florida
Beverly/sunny and warm
Bike path and park area that runs along the waterway for miles near Venice.
Today we motored the 37 miles to Sarasota in light and variable winds. It's a pretty straightforward trip up the waterway, but there are 9 bridges we had to have opened, plus a car ferry to watch out for. There were a couple of delays at the bridges, but not too bad. In addition, our chart plotter had us moving over land in several areas near Venice. Fortunately there are plenty of markers to keep us in the deeper parts of the waterway. We did get to see a couple of manatees along the way, plus a lot of sea birds. We are anchored next to the Ringling Causeway in Sarasota and will head north across Sarasota Bay and Tampa Bay tomorrow.
