Dog Island to Port St. Joe

25 May 2014 | Port St. Joe, Florida
Beverly/sunny and warm
Another beautiful sunset from Port St. Joe.

We left Dog Island on Friday and motorsailed across St. George Sound and Apalachicola Bay to the town of Apalachicola. There we picked up the ICW and motored to White City, then through the Gulf Canal to Port St. Joe - about 60 miles. We arrived just before sunset and anchored in the bay. The next day we moved to the marina here to get some boat tasks done. Yesterday and today we did grocery shopping, liquor shopping, picked up my prescription at the local CVS, did 2 loads of laundry, filled the water tanks, added 15 gallons of diesel, cleaned the boat, spent some time on the internet, and checked weather. Phew!

The weather information we have shows several days of good settled weather, so tomorrow we head offshore towards Mobile Bay (another overnight trip of about 150 miles). Unless the conditions are not as forecast or the weather changes; if that happens we'll divert to Panama City, Destin, or Pensacola, depending on where we are at the time.
