Looong Day
05 October 2015 | Taylor Bayou
Beverly/sunny and warm
Barge traffic plus parked barges along the edges of the ICW on Bolivar peninsula, just past mile 350.
Today we left Harborwalk marina going north, hoping to anchor at the High Island bridge on the ICW. Unfortunately, when we got there it was too shallow for us. This meant we had to carry on to our usual anchorage in the Port Arthur area, which added up to about 75 miles (69 nm). After a 14 hour day, we finally arrived at Taylor Bayou about an hour after dark. Luckily even without moonlight the ambient light from nearby industrial plants and the city of Port Arthur let us see the water and shoreline pretty well. (We have a spotlight but didn't need it.) We are exhausted!
