Wandering Through Alabama
16 October 2015 | Ingram Bayou, Alabama
Beverly/sunny and warm
This is our anchorage in Ingram Bayou, Alabama, looking south.
We left Dauphin Island early, even though we only had a 40 nm trip planned, because now we're so used to getting up early we can't sleep late (and we can't stay awake past 9 or 10 pm). The trip started off slowly as we had current against us heading under the Dauphin Island bridge, but our speed picked up once we got through and stayed over 5 knots the rest of the day. We saw some dolphins in Mobile Bay, but not as many as yesterday and no jellyfish. There was a little more wind, so maybe that was a factor. We stopped for fuel and a few supplies at Homeport Marina along the way and stopped for the night at a new to us anchorage about 20 miles from Pensacola called Ingram Bayou. It's a beautiful spot, quiet and well protected from all wind directions if you go far enough up. We were the first boat here so had our pick of spots. We love the one we got. We'll stay here a few days, because a cold front is predicted with strong winds for the next week. Then once we get to Pensacola (a short 4 hours away) we have to go outside in the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico so we have to wait for the right conditions.
