Playing the Tides
15 May 2016 | Brunswick, Georgia
Beverly/sunny and warm
Today's trip to Brunswick had to be carefully planned in order to transit Jekyll Creek at high tide. (At low tide we would run aground in this area.) Our timing was excellent and we arrived at the perfect time! Even at high tide, some of the ICW here is narrow, so we really had to pay attention, but we have done this stretch before and knew what to expect. Most of the way we skirt the western edge of Cumberland Island, then we cross another inlet, then the western edge of Jekyll Island, and finally we turn off the ICW into the Brunswick River to get to Brunswick Landing Marina. We arrived after the office was closed, but had made prior arrangements with the marina so we are tied up near the office for the night. Tomorrow morning we will check in and move to our slip, where we plan to stay for a month or so.
