From our anchorage at Cumberland we could see the Navy submarine base. Leaving Cumberland Island to go north on the ICW meant we had to pass right by the base. When we were close, we got a call over the VHS radio asking us to move over to the edge of the channel to allow room for these 2 ships on maneuvers to pass us. No problem since the waterway is wide and deep to the edges. It was still a little intimidating to be on the helm as they passed! (Picture by Ralph)
