April, 2011. We've arrived in the Mediterranean! Our plan is to stay here a minimum of 3 years and see all that we can see. However, as cruisers we know our plans are written in sand at low tide. So . . . Stay Tuned!

10 March 2007 | Rodney Bay, St. Lucia

NOPE - VIEW THE NEXT ONE FIRST.

Hello again. From Wallilabou, we sailed to Rodney Bay, St. Lucia and stayed there from March 1st to the 5th. We enjoyed grocery shopping here, as there is an IGA shopping store near the marina. We were able to stock up on goodies (crackers, chips, cookies, soda ) that we knew and missed.

During our time in Rodney Bay, we found our friend Bob (Good Time Charlie) from Trinidad, and invited him to lunch at a little house-with-no-name that the locals told us to eat at. The food was outstanding. Michael also served as the dinghy-saving guy (as you can see in the photo, he's pulling a dinghy - and owners - safely home). I've also included a photo of a boat boy's boat. He would drive around the lagoon all day getting your attention by blowing a conch shell. Then he would sell you fruits, vegetables, bread, or he would deliver whatever you needed.

Finally, life is not complete without dessert. And this ice cream was fabulous.

We left on the 6th for St. Pierre, Martiniqe. On the 7th, we sailed to Pourtsmouth, Dominica. On the 8th we sailed to Deshais (Day-HAY), Guadaloupe. And on the 9th we sailed into English Harbour, Antigua.

Antigua (an-TEA-gah) is the site of the yearly Antigua Sailing Week. It becomes filled with approximately 10,000 people eager to watch over 200 boats entering races and doing their best against each other during the week. This is one of the major world regattas for boaters. They range in size from 25 feet to over 125 feet. Each day is finished with a barbecue, steel bands, and rum punches - welcome to the Caribbean. Unfortunately, Michael and I will not be here to see it.

We'll be here for a few more days, then we'll sail off into the sunset (literally) and head for St. Martin. Because we figure it will take about 15 hours to get there, we will be leaving about 5pm and heading West.

Stay tuned.
